As you know there are two parts to the show, the "hear" and the "say" part so
lets get down to what we talked about in the first hour of our show "hear"

This week’s topic: Unemployment

Definition of Unemployment: A group of people who are involuntarily out of work.

Reasons behind Unemployment:

• Some people may have been distraught by disability or physical impairments that make it impossible for them to work.

• Recession - many companies have had to shut down due to loss of profit and many people have suffered by losing their jobs.

• Laziness and the individual perception - Is there a willingness in some people to work and search for jobs, are their values and attitudes towards some jobs or employers biased?

• Discrimination
Does our race, culture, age, gender or ethnicity affect the whether we get the jobs we want?

• Religion
Are Muslims being portrayed in a negative way since the terrorist attack on September 11th?

• Benefit systems - Income Support/Jobseekers Allowance supporting those out of work.
Are they making it easier for people to depend on support from the government?
Should they raise their standards in helping only those in extreme circumstances?
