This week’s Topic : Pressures of life
Examples of pressures people may experience
- Money- earning an income, providing for family and making a living can be a daunting experience to some.
- · Relationships- some people may have to change their behaviour, attitude or their way of life for the sake of their partner.
- · Is there pressure into being successful and reaching a high social status.
- · Family expectations- Are we pushed into marriage, education or a chosen career path?
- · Social expectations- Are we expected to dress, act or behave a certain way?
Realise the cause of pressure and deal with it.
· Parents are often the initial cause of pressuring you to do something ‘THEY’ want, whereas it may not be something ‘YOU’ want to do. It is best advised to maintain communication and express your opinions.
My 2009 Highlights
- · FGM (Female Genital Mutilation)
On this episode I carried out a survey recording the different thoughts surrounding this topic. I managed to reach those who have been affected, I also found out that the majority of the people are against the removal of genital organs for cultural purposes without consent.
- · Counselling and stress with Fadumo Mohammed.
We briefly discussed how counselling is misunderstood by a number of the public. Everyone should consider it as a positive environment to seek advice. It is place to help those in need.
- · The dangers of internet dating.
Exploring social networks particularly Facebook. It is not safe to upload your profile, pictures and personal information for the public to view.
- · Domestic violence
There was a lot of media attention and speculation about incidents that occurred between Rihanna and Chris Brown. This subject was to encourage victims suffering in silence to speak up.
- · Problems with relationships and parents
I overlooked couples therapy and some of the advantages and disadvantage of dating and settling down. A part of this topic was dedicated to how important family is and the significance of sticking together.
